This engaging and entertaining retrospective of one of the country’s most successful instrumental ensembles displays the immense breadth of sounds and colours of the quartet to the full. It includes music written for it by Django Bates, Barbara Thompson, Keith Tippett, Kenny Wheeler and Will Gregory – York alumnus and now half of Goldfrapp – amongst others, alongside a fascinating, quirky and hilarious set of early black and white films set to music by present and former members of the ASQ.
